The Five Buck Hootenanny is our way of giving our audiences a fun and entertaining evening program of local and regional folk musicians at the low admission price of $5.00 ($2.00 children under 12). For each "Hoot" we showcase 2 or 3 Performers playing for approximately 30 minutes each. These performers will range from seasoned musicians who enjoy playing for a responsive audience to new performers who may have never performed on stage before. We'll be welcoming Traditional Folksingers, Fiddle and Banjo Pickers, folks who write their own songs, Old Time Country singers, Blues & Fancy Guitars pickers and much much more. The Good folks at Woodland Dunes will be making Soda and other goodies available. For an evening of fun music in a non smoking no alcohol environment you can't beat our "Five Buck Hootenannies" !!!!!
Do You Want to Play at One of Our Hoots ?
We are actively searching for folk musicians for our hoots . We generally need 2 performances to fill each evening with 30 - 45 minute sets. We are looking for both seasoned performers as well as those of you who have never played before an audience before, as long as you can give a solid 35 minute performance. The types of music appropriate for the Hoots are traditional folksongs, blues, Mountain ballads and Old time Country songs, Finger style guitar, Celtic and Bluegrass and any other type of roots based music, or if you are a songwriter - songs written in these traditions - We are looking for a folk based performances and not acoustic renditions of 60's 70's popular style - like Neil Young or the Beatles, nor are we looking for songwriters in these styles - while we enjoy and appreciate the talent that goes into it, it is not what we want for these evenings. If you are already performing this is a great chance to build your audience. We have grown a great bit in our first few years and can give you a wonderful place to try out new material, or that new song or to build a following. More and more of the performers on our hoots are coming from the professional arena. Got a CD? Do some songs from it and sell it during the break. There's no payment involved, but you'll get your chance to play in front of a sympathetic audience and fine tune your craft And, You Guessed it, You'll have fun !!! So if you want to perform here - check out our rules for the hootenanny (Here)- then contact Fritz Schuler, and let him know that you're interested in performing at a Hoot. - He can be reached at the Golden Ring (Best times to call or stop in - Afternoon or early afternoon) (920) 684-5242 to get the ball rolling!!!!
